We miss Hunter everyday and our hearts warm when this event takes place each Easter weekend. Throughout his 19 years, he brought delight to all of us daily and endeared us with his authentic personality, infectious wit, distinctive manner and unmistakable loyalty. We still hear his laughter, still see his smile, and we are certain that he has his own incredible view of everyone gathered together at “Hunter’s Runners” in his memory.
Angel of Hope
The Angel of Hope, a 4-foot 3-inch bronze statue with a wingspan of more than 5 feet, supported on a granite base landed in Phoenix on December 6, 2004 and was dedicated in a formal ceremony amongst nearly 600 people at Hansen’s Desert Hills Memorial Park, 6500 E. Bell Road. The Angel statue was inspired by Richard Paul Evans' 1993 book, The Christmas Box, a story of a woman who mourns the loss of her child at the base of an angel monument. Although the story was primarily fictional, the angel was similar to one that had once been enshrined in a Utah cemetery. Now, through Christmas Box House International, 49 replicated Angels of Hope reside in towns and cities around the United States to comfort grieving parents. Culver and Nancy White have led the crusade to bring an “Angel” home to Phoenix, the largest city yet, in honor of Hunter, and of so many in the community.
